Carbon Reduction Plan for WindowPayne achieving Net Zero by 2050.
WindowPayne Carbon Reduction Plan
Introduction
WindowPayne is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050 in alignment with the UK Government’s plan to combat climate change. As part of our commitment, we are implementing measures to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our operations and supply chain. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our goals, initiatives, and progress tracking over the next 10 years to ensure meaningful reductions in emissions while maintaining high-quality services for our clients.
Current Carbon Footprint
Our baseline emissions data for the year 2024 indicates the following breakdown of GHG emissions:
– Scope 1 (Direct emissions): Fuel use from company vehicles and equipment.
– Scope 2 (Indirect emissions): Electricity consumption in office operations.
– Scope 3 (Other indirect emissions): Supply chain emissions, employee commuting, and waste disposal.
Estimated baseline emissions: 69.12 metric tonnes of CO2 per year (average 2023 based on 12 vehicles)
Goals
– Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030.
– Work with suppliers and stakeholders to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030.
– Transition to 100% renewable electricity for all facilities by 2040.
– Achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Planned Actions
1. Reducing Energy Consumption
– Replace all lighting in our offices with energy-efficient LED systems by 2028.
– Optimise heating and cooling systems to reduce energy waste.
– Transition to 100% renewable electricity suppliers by 2035.
– Implement energy monitoring systems to track and reduce consumption.
2. Fleet and Travel Management
– Transition to an entirely electric or hybrid fleet by 2040, starting with 30% electrification by 2038.
– Optimise route planning software to minimise travel distances and reduce fuel consumption. Achieved 2024
– Promote the use of public transport, cycling, and carpooling for employee commuting. Signage and promotion implemented 2024
3. Sustainable Supply Chain Practices
– Engage with suppliers to encourage the adoption of sustainable practices, including reduced packaging and lower-carbon production methods.
– Implement a green procurement policy, prioritising suppliers committed to Net Zero and sustainable practices.
– Regularly assess supply chain emissions and work collaboratively to achieve reductions.
4. Waste Management and Recycling
– Implement zero-to-landfill policies for office and operational waste by 2028.
– Increase recycling rates across all sites by providing clear guidance and adequate facilities.
– Work with clients to reduce waste generated during service delivery, particularly packaging and disposables.
5. Employee Engagement and Training
– Provide regular training on sustainability and energy efficiency for all staff.
– Launch internal campaigns to encourage employees to reduce energy use, adopt greener travel habits, and minimise waste.
– Establish a “Green Team” to monitor sustainability initiatives and champion carbon reduction practices.
6. Offsetting Residual Emissions
– Invest in accredited carbon offset projects to neutralise residual emissions that cannot be eliminated, such as reforestation programs and renewable energy projects.
– Gradually reduce reliance on offsets as operational emissions decrease over time.
